The Technet

The Technet on the Vancouver reflector 9008 with IRLP and EchoLink(VAN-IRLP, 256919) connectivity is held every Friday evening EST. The net is hosted by Reg Bagshaw, VK6BQQ/VE3BQQ who moved a few years ago from Burlington, ON to Jandakot, Western Australia.

The net started out locally in Hamilton as a fairly technical net, but with the move to IRLP and Echolink has evolved into a general information net.

Or as Reg likes to say when soliciting check-ins "Please come with your ICQ for the net" (Information, Comments and Questions).

Red Cross Net

This group is to facilitate the planning and on-going maintenance of the American Red Cross disaster communication plans and practices. We utilize the Internet Radio Linking Project to communicate nation wide.

It is also intended as a forum for coordination between ARC, ARES/RACES, FEMA, and Homeland Security.

SKYWARN Net

SKYWARN Net

This is a training net when weather permits. This net also can be started by stations in the effected area when weather Warnings or Watches are enacted by the National Weather Service, the National Severe Storm Lab and the National Hurricane Center. IRLP Reflector 9210 will be used to link repeaters in the affected areas and will act as net control reflector.

This linking of these repeaters will give the local National Weather Service Offices around the country and the world a quick and immediate contact with amateur radio SKYWARN Spotters.

Insomniac Net

The Insomniac Net is held every night of the year (including holidays) and has been very popular for over 26 years. Each night there is a different net control operator. Generally, they have three or four trivia questions with 2 multiple choice answers. Roll call of the regular night owl members is called, then a special call for visitors and guests is presented. Our website is at http://www.halling.com/Insomnia.htm

The Morning Net - 147.390 Mhz +
Weekdays at 9:00 am

The IRLP RailHam Net

RailHam Net

The IRLP RailHam Net is an informal on-air gathering of hams who are railfans; that is, they enjoy railroads as a hobby.

Whether they build model train layouts, expand their photo collections of prototype trains, or research the history of their favorite railroad, or rebuild historic locomotives, it's a great way to discuss railroads with other hams across the U.S. and Canada via IRLP.

CNIB Cross Canada Net

CNIB Cross Canada Net (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) The CNIB runs this net weekly at 1900 Eastern on the IRLP/Echolink reflector nodes 9008/256919.

It is designed to link hams with vision loss across Canada and around the world.

The net also welcomes all hams interested in the activities CNIB.

Canada Maritime Nets

Canadian Maritime Nets

Information on the very beginning of the Professional Loafers Net is sketchy. I'm told that it was started by Eddy Allen - VE1BEW. He thought there should be a net on 80 metres in the mornings for Maritimers and I’m told he had only one check-in on the first net, a friend - VE1AQO. Shortly after VE1IS - Lou joined the net as a net control. The net started on 3.760 and moved to it’s present frequency of 3.735 sometime in the 90's due to interference from some out-of-the Maritimes stations using the same frequency.

State of Nevada ARES/RACES Net

The net meets Thursday 7 pm Pacific Time on EchoLink *NV-GATE* Conference Node 152566 and IRLP Reflector 9258 which are linked together 24/7 to allow Echo link and IRLP nodes to communicate.

These channels may be used in the event of a disaster to link communicators together. The VoIP provides another means for local response personnel to communicate.

Net Control software

It may be easier to use a net control software such as flnet.

FLNET Description
Net provides the Amateur Radio Net Control Station operator with a real time tool to assist him or her in managing the net activities. A single screen with multiple windows is used to allow rapid entry, search, pick and display of all stations calling in to the net. All operations on the main screen are accomplished with keyboard entries only. No mouse action is required to perform the net control functions. Experience has shown that most net control operators prefer this method of operation to improve the speed of entry and selection

In order to keep this list at a manageable size, I have restricted it
(more or less) to English language voice nets in North America. For
net listings in other modes and languages, check out the following:
AC6V: http://www.ac6v.com
This megapage contains numerous links to many sites, including nets,
organizations, bulletins, shortwave, equipment, etc.

ARRL ON LINE NET DIRECTORY: http://www.arrl.org/field/nets (graphics
page) or http://www2.arrl.org/field/nets (text page)
The print publication, edited by Steven R. Ewald, WV1X, appears every
two years, the last being the 1999-2000 edition. The web version is
primarily a search engine of nets that has registered with the ARRL
and includes voice, CW, and RTTY nets on all bands.
